About SP3D

SP3D is a flexible forward modelling program for calculating the self-potential distribution resulting from seepage flow through a 3D volume of earth (such as an earthfill dam) that is discretized using a mesh of rectangular cells. It is run in the MS Windows environment, using a graphical user interface (GUI) or alternately from the command line. The UBC-GIF utility MeshTools3D is used to examine resulting scalar or vector quantities throughout the model volume. A second UBC-GIF utility, SP-data-viewer, enables the comparison of contour maps and line plots of data calculated by SP3D (predicted data) and field measurements (observed data).
